The 2010 Smallbore and Air Rifle Inter Insular competition was held in Jersey on 26 March 2010. St John hosted the Air Rifle event and St Lawrence provided facilities for the .22 teams. Guernsey 'A' class Air Rifle shooters won their part of the Grasset Neame Trophy, beating Jersey by a narrow margin of just 9 points. Jersey were able to draw from a much larger pool of .22 shooters to field a strong team, winning that even by 76 points. Jersey therefore retain the Grasset Neame Trophy once again, winning by an overall 67 points. The Le Riche trophy, won the previous year by Guernsey, was taken back by Jersey, with a winning margin of 200 points. Guernsey were unable to enter a .22 team for this event so it was a competition made up only of the two opposing air rifle teams. Guernsey's team was propped up by a couple of .22 shooters due to insufficient air rifle shooters being available for the event. It is worth noting that Don Ashplant of Guernsey (St Pierre Air Rifle Club) was competing in his 56th inter insular small bore event, having shot in the very first such event in 1952. This is a remarkable lifetime achievement. FULL RESULTS ARE FOUND BELOW ... (Click here to download them in Excel format) GRASSET NEAME
