10m Pistol Island Individual Championship 2012.
The Final of the Air Pistol Island Championship took place at the Cobo range on Going one better than the tense rifle final the night before, the top 2 shooters Tara Lainé and Noel Duquemin were tied on 548 after the main 60 shot event. Paul Guillou, taking part in the event for the first time was in 3rd position, 18 points behind Lainé and Duquemin. Going into the 10 shot Olympic final, Lainé was keen to retain the trophy whereas Duquemin was hungry to take the title again as he had done some 20 years previously. The pressure on Lainé was clear but good shot discipline resulted in a string of 10's. It was just one stray shot from Duquemin which meant that Lainé took first place and lifted the trophy once again. All 3 of the top finalists will be taking part in the British Championship event at Bisley this coming weekend. They will be firing alongside the British Olympic team members and looking forward to this rare opportunity to experience top-flight competition first hand.
